Declutter for a Good Mood and a Great Cause
Spending time decluttering your home is something we have always encouraged here at Door to Door Solutions. Getting rid of unused items and clearing your house not only makes it look better, it makes you feel better too!
This is what researchers found to be true at UCLA’s Center on Everyday Lives and Families (CELF) when they studied 32 middle-class, dual-income families which was later formed into the book, “Life at Home in The Twenty-First Century.”
The research demonstrated how clutter can be directly linked to depression.
“Managing the volume of possessions was such a crushing problem in many homes that it actually elevated levels of stress hormones for mothers,” said Meg Sullivan, author of Trouble in paradise: UCLA book enumerates challenges faced by middle-class L.A. families.
This summer, we encourage you to free your clutter and your stress by organizing your home and donating your excess to the Richmond SPCA. Not only will this enhance your mood, it will also support a good cause.
In July, the Richmond SPCA is hosting a declutter sale to benefit their Seniors for Seniors program. The proceeds from the event will go towards the program, which connects senior adults with senior companions awaiting caring, long-term homes.
The organization is accepting a variety of household items, such as: art, small furniture, silver and dinnerware through July 1.
The sale will be held Saturday, July 30 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Training Gallery of SPCA’s new Smoky’s Training Center. For more information, please visit www.richmondspca.org/declutter.
